Where We Set Our Sights
The Ann Arbor Rockets are comprised of tough and enthusiastic athletes aged 5 to 45 from across southeast Michigan. The Ann Arbor Rockets believe hockey should be available for all athletes. The team provides an accessible opportunity to those with a variety of physical, developmental and/or cognitive disabilities to participate in the great sport of hockey in a safe and encouraging environment. Hockey is a mainstay in the Midwest! The Ann Arbor Rockets believe that everyone should be able to participate in this sport while building confidence and participating on a great team!
The AA Rockets are registered through USA Hockey and American Special Hockey Association (ASHA). Participating families are responsible for paying the USA Hockey registration and any travel costs. Equipment, ice time, jerseys, etc. are all provided out of donations or fundraising so the families do not have to incur costs.
Our coaching staff are volunteers. On ice player/coach ratios are usually 2 or 3 players to one coach. Due to the wide range of skills of the individual player, the AA Rockets typically require lots of coaches on the ice (and that's part of the fun). The team also uses many student coaches (13 - 17 years old).
We accept donations in many forms - time, monetary and equipment are most common. We encourage coaches that might be interested to help to contact us!
